Pathologist Permanent Full-Time position   REPORTING RELATIONSHIPThis Physician role is accountable to the Chief, Department of Pathology. APPOINTMENTThe Pathologist is appointed by the Department Chief for terms which may be specified in the Hospital Bylaws. POSITION OVERVIEWThe Pathologist will work in collaboration with the other members of the Department of Pathology to perform all professional duties in the area of Histopathology and Cytopathology. RESPONSIBILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITYThe Physician must demonstrate the following competencies: - The pathologist’s responsibilities include making diagnosis in a timely manner on tissues using appropriate resources - Learn and utilize digital pathology tools for primary diagnostic work, frozen section coverage and consultation. - Abide by medical staff by-laws and medical staff rules of the Hospital and the Public Hospital Act and other applicable legislation - Comply with scheduling structures established by the Chief or designate to ensure that Hospital services are covered 24 hours a day, seven days a week - Be available for consultation with professional colleagues and attend staff and departmental meetings within the Hospital - Investigations of problems and complaints from medical staff regarding the Laboratory Services and ensure corrective actions if required - Perform such duties and services as may be reasonably assigned by the Chief of Laboratory Medicine/Medical Director - Comply with intradepartmental rules - Collaborate with the leadership team to ensure appropriate resource utilization and optimal patient care; - Demonstrating understanding of, compliance with, and commitment to, patient safety responsibilities and corresponding program plans, policies and procedures in order to ensure a safe environment for patients.  Skills/Abilities/Experience - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work both independently and as a team member within a group environment - Proven attendance record. - Ability to perform the essential duties of the job. - Demonstrates behaviors consistent with Mackenzie Health’s Commitment to Caring. - Models behavior that is aligned with the values of Mackenzie Health – Excellence, Leadership and Epathy. - Commitment to providing an exceptional experience for staff and clients within a challenging and exciting health care environment. - Demonstrates understanding of contribution to patient and staff safety. - Willingness to incorporate new and emerging technologies into routine practice.  Education/Certification/Licenses - Medical degree approved by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) required. - Must have qualification in a specialty of Laboratory Medicine as recognized by The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or equivalent qualifications as recognized by the Provincial Licensing Body required. - Sub-specialization training in Hematopathology is considered an asset.   - Canadian Medical Protection Association - Ontario Medical Association (OMA)   Mackenzie Health is an inclusive and equal opportunity employer committed to providing accommodations for applicants upon request at any stage of the recruitment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Ontario Human Rights Code.   FOR EXTERNAL APPLICANTS: As a condition of employment, you are required to submit proof of full COVID-19 vaccination to Mackenzie Health's Occupational Health and Safety department.

Ultimately, this is where you want to be.   Position Overview Mackenzie Health is currently recruiting a Specialist in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (Physiatrist) on the inpatient musculoskeletal rehabilitation unit (12 High-Intensity and 10 Low-Tolerance Long Duration beds) with opportunities to consult on patients in Complex Continuing Care and Acute Medicine beds in hospital with physiatric needs. The Physician will work in collaboration with the Chief of Family Practice, the Physician Lead, Complex Continuing Care and Palliative Care, and the Physician Lead, Rehabilitation.   Responsibilities As a Physiatrist, the Physician will be responsible for the following: • Provides Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation consultative assessment of physical, mental and occupational rehabilitation needs of patients in the high-intensity rehabilitation program, and on an as-needed basis on LTLD, CCC and Medicine programs at Mackenzie Health Richmond Hill Hospital • Addresses musculoskeletal issues such as pain, deformity, immobility and other physiatric barriers limiting progression within a rehabilitation program, candidacy for a rehabilitation program or other disposition • Works closely with other Mackenzie Health Physiatrist(s) to negotiate cross-hospital consultation or coverage if/when necessary. Opportunity to provide support for MSK consultations at other sites depending on consultation volumes. • Collaborates with community partners to support hospital pathways for small number of patients in other physiatric populations (amputee, stroke, SCI) • Participates in meetings and committees, as required. • Performs duties and responsibilities as agreed upon by the Division Head. • Performs duties and responsibilities outlined in the Hospital By-laws, department and division rules, and applicable policies. This is a temporary locum position with a minimum commitment of three months, with the possibility of an extended term. The Locum Otolaryngologist would have access to available resources within the Department of Surgery, Division of Otolaryngology for general otolaryngology services. The Otolaryngologist would be expected to provide an equal share of on-call coverage within the Department. Responsibilities include conducting ENT surgeries, maintaining regular OR time, hosting a weekly procedure clinic, participating in on-call duties, and covering office duties.
