Mackenzie Health Division of General Surgery is looking to recruit a colorectal surgeon to join our current group of 13 general surgeons. The successful candidate will work at both the Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital and Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital.
We are looking for a colorectal surgeon who has an interest in benign colorectal surgery, such as IBD, as well as expertise in robotic colorectal surgery.
This position comes with an elective OR practice, including endoscopy time. The candidate will also be expected to participate in ACS weeks at both of our sites.
Mackenzie Health supports York Region, a population of more than half a million people. Each hospital has it’s own ACS service and call schedule, with a different surgeon on-call at each site. This is why call is 1 in 7 even though there will be 14 surgeons. Both of our ACS services are managed and led by a Nurse Practitioner at each site.
Mackenzie Health is a future teaching site for York University School of Medicine with its inaugural class to begin July 2028, and a general surgery residency program scheduled to open in July 2029. In addition, Mackenzie Health is a general surgery rotation site for University of Toronto General Surgery residents. Therefore, teaching expectations are required with this position. All division members will receive an academic appointment with York University.
All candidates must have a medical degree approved by the CPSO, an independent CPSO license, certification in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in General Surgery and CMPA or equivalent in good standing.
Mackenzie Health is an inclusive and equal opportunity employer committed to providing accommodations for applicants upon request at any stage of the recruitment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Ontario Human Rights Code.
We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those under consideration for an interview will be contacted.
