Role Overview: 
The Digital Marketing & Communications Specialist plays a key role in advancing Mackenzie Health Foundation’s mission by leading the execution and optimization of the Foundation’s digital presence. This role is responsible for developing and implementing integrated digital marketing strategies that enhance donor engagement, increase online giving and elevate brand visibility across all digital platforms.
 
Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Communications, and working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners, the Specialist oversees the Foundation’s website, social media channels, email marketing and digital advertising. They use data-driven insights to design and refine digital touchpoints that support the full donor journey while ensuring alignment with the Foundation’s strategic priorities and brand standards.
 
 
Contribute to the Foundation by:
  • Support the strategic development and lead the execution of the Foundation’s digital presence across all online channels.
  • Design and optimize digital touchpoints to enhance the donor journey, from awareness to stewardship.
  • Plan, execute and analyze digital marketing campaigns to support fundraising initiatives and key awareness moments (e.g., Giving Tuesday, National Philanthropy Day).
  • Use industry best practices and informed decisions to increase audience engagement, support the growth of online donations and enhance brand visibility.
  • Monitor, analyze and report on data across all channels and campaigns to inform recommendations and improve ROI.
  • Leverage insights to build cohesion between digital platforms and streamline the online donor journey.
  • Use data to inform segmentation, personalization and campaign optimization.
  • Apply best SEO practices to amplify the organic growth of the Foundation’s digital footprint. 
  • Lead digital content creation, including testing and deployment, aligned with key campaigns, events, and impact storytelling.
  • Maintain event and non-event Raisin pages and website content to ensure timely, accurate and donor-focused messaging. 
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to develop and deploy compelling, on-brand content that reflects the Foundation’s Strategic Plan and strengthens community connection.
  • Manage and maintain the Foundation’s website, social media platforms and marketing automation tools.
  • Work with the Director to ensure optimal integration between Constant Contact and RENXT for outbound communications.
  • Pilot emerging tools and platforms (e.g., AI, automation, personalization engines) to enhance digital engagement.
  • Maintain and grow all social media platforms using tools such as Hootsuite.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align digital campaigns with annual giving, major gifts and stewardship strategies.
  • Contribute to cross-functional campaign planning and brainstorms, bringing forward digital-first strategies that reflect donor behavior and digital user experience.
  • Stay informed of emerging digital trends, technologies, and best practices in nonprofit marketing to ensure innovation and continued growth.
 
What must you have?
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in digital marketing, communications, digital media, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in digital marketing or communications roles, ideally within the healthcare, hospital, or not-for-profit sector.
  • 2-3 of experience writing a range of communications materials, including emails, social media and web content.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-performing team environment.
  • Proficiency with:
  • Google Analytics and other data analytics tools
  • Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite and other social media platforms
  • WordPress or similar CMS platforms
  • Constant Contact or other email marketing platforms
  • Blackbaud RENXT or similar donor management software
  • Google Ads Suite and digital advertising tools
  • Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Raisin, Canva and video editing tools (e.g., Adobe Premier, CapCut) is an asset.
What else do you bring?
 
  • Proven success managing and optimizing integrated digital marketing campaigns, including digital advertising across multiple channels. 
  • Experience working with agencies (advertising and digital) is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with donor-centric communication and fundraising principles is an asset.
  • Understanding of SEO best practices and AODA compliance. 
  • Strong content development and storytelling skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate organizational goals into digital tactics. 
  • Ability to use data to inform segmentation, personalization and campaign optimization. 
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Creative, collaborative and digitally curious

This position is permanent full-time, with a flexible, hybrid schedule. Some regional travel may be required to meet with staff, donors, partners and volunteer leaders. Competitive compensation plus benefits and pension plan.
