Job Description

The Registered Dietitian and Professional Practice Lead is responsible for the provision of nutritional care for patients as established by the College of Dietitians of Ontario and the hospitals’ standards of nutrition care. The Dietician actively participates within the healthcare team and collaborates with other dietitians to ensure effective and current dietetic practice and achieve excellence in patient care. As part of the role, the incumbent will also facilitate processes to support interprofessional excellence in patient-centered care, best practice, professional standards of practice, and legislative requirements.

What must you have?

  • Current registration and in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
  • Graduate of a recognized university program (majoring in food and nutrition) and successful completion of a Dietetic Internship or Practicum.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certificate.

 

What else do you bring?

  • Demonstrated ability to provide comprehensive assessment and nutritional care planning in the inpatient setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability for effective communication with all levels of hospital personnel, patients and families.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide individual or group nutrition counseling.
  • Effectively organizes and manages time including prioritizing patient caseloads.
  • Ability to function independently as well as contribute to the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education.
  • Proven ability to work in a computerized healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
  • Proven attendance record.
  • Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Effectively uses empathy in interactions with others.

Preferably, your profile also includes:

  • Two (2) years clinical experience preferred. Previous experience in Medicine or Acute setting is an asset.
