To ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all Cytology testing by providing a high-quality service. Preparation, staining, and screening primarily non-gynecological specimens.
Contribute to safe, quality care by
- Assesses cytology specimen integrity and adequacy.
- Prepares cytology specimens, performing routine benchwork, correlates and evaluates validity of results according to established methodologies, processes, and procedures.
- Specimen evaluation, organization and prioritization based on urgency and by following laboratory protocols.
- Operates, maintains, and checks all equipment.
- Screens and enters diagnostic information in the Laboratory Information System.
- Responds appropriately to abnormal results.
- Identifies and troubleshoots issues and reports any malfunctioning.
- Participates in the EQA Testing Program and actively participates in the departmental continuous quality improvement program.
- Understands and actively participates in maintaining the Laboratory Quality Management System.
- Participates in detecting, reporting, correcting, and preventing unexpected occurrences, identifies opportunities for improvement.
- Submits reports and statistics as required.
What must you have?
- Graduate of a recognized diploma program in Medical Laboratory Technology – Cytology.
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO).

Preferably, your profile also includes:
- Minimum 2 years current Hospital work experience preferred
- Minimum 2 years of related work experience preferred.
- Previous experience working in the Cytotechnologist classification preferred.
- Histology Cross Training skills preferred (Microtomy, Embedding)
