The Diagnostic Systems Specialist performs all related activities including: Imaging Informatics Administrator (PACS), LIS Middleware Specialist (Laboratory), as well as being a System Administrator for various departments – Digital Pathology, Cardiology, Neuro-Diagnostics (EEG/EMG), Patient Access. This includes but is not limited to managing the day-to-day integrity of responsible applications, troubleshooting end-user calls, and the Project Management of system/application upgrades.
Contribute to safe, quality care by
- Provide expertise in related workflows, processes, and technologies for managed applications
- Act as a departmental resource for end-users; providing technical support, working with ICAT teams on cross-department workflows, working with vendors for escalated issues, and training/knowledge transfer.
- Provide expertise in the planning, development, and implementation along with operation management and troubleshooting of managed systems.
- Liaise with ICAT and Business Systems when required.
- Develop processes to maintain data integrity and information security for managed application.
What must you have?
- Medical Radiation Technology (MRT), Ultrasound (ARDMS), Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), Clinical Informatics Certification(s), or Imaging Informatics Professional Certification (CIIP).
- Graduate from a recognized health or health system related post-secondary program
What else do you bring?
- Experience with on-call support for system critical applications or servers on a 24/7 basis.
- Strong aptitude and desire to learn new software programs, including EMR, PACS, Dictation software, Laboratory Middleware, or any future innovations
- Ability to multitask several end-user issues in an efficient manner.
- Proven attendance record.

Preferably, your profile also includes:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a medical imaging environment such as a PACS environment or experience managing laboratory middleware.
- Experience in PACS, and Electronic Medical RIS/LIS, or able to become a subject matter expert in electronic medical record workflow and management.
- Working knowledge of MIS guidelines.
- Experience as a PACS Administrator preferred.
- Clinical Informatics Certification(s) preferred.
- Experience with report writing analysis, project management and data mining preferred.
- Server Systems Administration is an asset.
- HL7 Interface experience or knowledge is an asset.
- PC desktop troubleshooting experience is an asset.
