Job Description

The Financial Analyst I performs a range of activities in area of General Accounting. This role is responsible for typical accounting period closure activities, reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts, preparing for annual audits, investigation and analysis of specific accounting transactions.  The Financial Analyst will be required to be flexible during peak periods to meet deadlines. This role will work closely with and support other members of Finance team. The Financial Analyst will prepare monthly journal entries and complete the month-end process. As well as prepare monthly reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts, including but not limited to Bank, Prepaid expenses, Fixed Assets and Capital Grants, Accrued Liabilities. In addition this role is responsible for preparing a reconciliation and variance analysis of capital purchases and projects. They will also post daily, weekly and monthly system interfaces from sub ledgers to General Ledger, support the corporate credit card program and prepare working papers and assist in the annual external audit. They will work closely with external Accounts Payable service provider (Plexxus) on all aspect of Accounts Payable. 

 
 
What must you have?
  • Degree or diploma in Business Administration - Accounting.
  • Certification in accounting (CPA) completed or close to completion.
 
What else do you bring?
  • Experience in full cycle accounting essential with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Demonstrated experience in data collection, analysis and reporting.
  • Demonstrated organizational, prioritization, and time management, with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work with tight timelines and fast-paced  environment requiring flexibility with respect to working hours.
  • Superior judgment, critical thinking, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proven attendance record.
  • Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Effectively uses empathy in interactions with others and demonstrates behaviours consistent with Mackenzie Health’s Commitment to Caring.

Preferably, your profile also includes:
  • Knowledge of hospital financial accounting requirements and reporting structure is an asset.
