We are currently seeking a results-oriented Community Giving Officer to grow community engagement and support for Mackenzie Health across York region and surrounding areas, helping us achieve our fundraising goals.

Position Summary

 

The Community Giving Officer reports to the Manager, Signature & Community Events and is responsible for helping help drive revenue generation for the community engagement strategy within the Foundation. Multi-faceted in its fundraising channels, the Emerging Leaders Council, Third Party program, The Prosperity Club and the development of Women in Philanthropy giving circle are the cornerstones of fundraising in the community giving portfolio. The Officer is also responsible for developing mutually rewarding relationships by securing gifts and partnerships by actively managing a diverse portfolio of donors and prospects.

 

Additionally, the Officer will contribute to and support targeted engagement strategies with diverse groups of citizens, community groups, schools, small/medium size businesses as well as service clubs to advance the Community Giving program and ultimately deliver an extraordinary donor-centric experience.  

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and steward relationships with individuals, local businesses, employee groups and services clubs in all stages of the development cycle to secure gifts
  • Contribute to the growth of the community giving pipeline by actively identifying and soliciting new revenue opportunities and qualified prospects through a multi-channel fundraising lens
  • Develop and implement cultivation, solicitation and stewardship solicitation strategies that will provide prospective donors with meaningful opportunities to impact the cause at Mackenzie Health
  • Support community volunteers/ambassadors, Foundation committee and council members to develop and execute cultivation and solicitation strategies
  • Maintain community donor/prospects records in Raiser’s Edge so that timely and appropriate donor moves management is accurately being actioned
  • Work in partnership with the Annual team as well as Communications and Marketing & Stewardship teams to develop peer-to-peer, crowd funding and community fundraising programs and assets that optimize digital first strategy
  • Cultivate strong professional relationships with Mackenzie Health staff and volunteers to support Foundation activities and contribute to the Family Campaign strategy and execution
  • Support the Annual team in the development and execution of a new grateful patient program
  • Collaborate with Foundation and Hospital teams fostering open communication, information sharing, teamwork
  • Nurture and promote a culture of philanthropy mindset with Mackenzie Health staff and volunteers to support Foundation fundraising activities
  • Act as a represent of Mackenzie Health in the community and at the hospital sites as required at events, tours, gift celebrations and plaque unveilings
  • Updates the Raiser’s Edge donor database with relevant information
  • Provides backup for administrative team members and performs other duties and responsibilities as required

 

What you bring:

  • Minimum 3 years progressive fundraising experience, preferably in community engagement or peer-to-peer fundraising
  • Results-oriented innovative approach to fundraising, comfortable with networking and cold-calling
  • Strong relationship management skills with an ability to work with a high degree of initiative and self-motivation
  • Experience engaging with diverse cultures with a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion
  • Demonstrated professionalism and tact combined with excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work collaboratively across all stakeholder groups
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit or healthcare environment
  • Experience in Raiser’s Edge and online giving platforms such as AKA Raisin
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills utilizing a variety of communication channels
  • Organized with strong attention to detail and effective time management skills
  • Able to maintain and work with confidential information
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • University degree or college diploma in fundraising or a related field or a combination of education of experience
