Job Description

 

The Manager, Ambulatory Care is a member of the management team within the program/clinical area and is responsible for the coordination and direction of the Ambulatory Clinics as well as the human and fiscal resources of these Clinics. The Manager collaborates with the Program Manager, Operations Directors, Clinical Directors, Professional Practice Leaders and other key members to ensure that high quality, effective and efficient services and care is provided.  The Manager is accountable for planning, implementing and integrating plans that are in alignment with Mackenzie Health.

 

Contribute to safe, quality care by:

  • Responsible for recruitment, interviewing and performance management of staffing.
  • Responsible for the oversight and operations of the ambulatory clinics.
  • Monitors and responds timely to quality, safety, risk and other performance/ outcome indicators.
  • Responsible to support teams and provide leadership, assuming management accountability when escalation beyond Clinical Utilization Coordinator is required in developing a discharge strategy.
  • Cultivates effective inter-professional relationships at all levels.
  • Identifies issues & challenges; monitoring trends requiring targeted interventions and change in practice patterns or processes.
  • Works collaboratively with the program leaders and taking joint accountability for achieving performance targets, managing risk, improving quality & safety and advancing patient care outcomes, under the direction of the Program Director.
  • Works collaboratively with other leaders in reducing waste, adding value, raising standards, improving effectiveness and delivering high performance.
  • Coaches and mentors, facilitates and supports the creation and maintenance of an environment that fosters creativity and professional judgment.
  • Facilitates and motivates individuals to realize performance within their scope of practice.
  • Creates an environment which empowers individuals to take ownership and responsibility for their actions, promoting staff initiative and nurturing higher morale.
  • Prioritizes and organizes project deliverables to ensure timely completion in accordance with project timelines.
  • Manages the utilization of program resources and makes operational decisions within the approved budget and business plan.
  • Completes management reports addressing program issues and variance from approved budget, including strategies to match available resources with patient need, as required.
  • Develops capacity management strategies as the basis for cost effective resource allocation and utilization.
  • Demonstrate relevant on-going professional development and continuing learning.
  • Leads program based and corporate initiatives to enhance efficiency and cost effectiveness that maintain or improve quality of patient care.
  • Monitors performance and takes appropriate action to respond to performance management issues on a timely basis, according to Hospital policies and procedures and relevant legislation and liaises with Human Resources as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates understanding of, and compliance with, responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and the organizations’ health and safety plans, policies and procedures. 
  • Demonstrates understanding of, compliance with, and commitment to, patient safety responsibilities and corresponding hospital plans, policies and procedures in order to ensure a safe environment for patients. 

 

What must you have?

  • Registered Nurse Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Completion of Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or related field.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years clinical frontline leadership experience.

Preferably, your profile also includes:

  • Masters Degree in Nursing or related field.
