Job Description

Summer Student - Clinical Informatics

Temporary Full Time (approximately 4 months)

 

The Clinical Informatics team is looking to hire two students to help with optimizing downtime processes and change management for EMR upgrades. Students may be asked to support a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:


• Documenting current processes and providing future state recommendations
• Developing and/or updating training or presentation materials
• Work collaboratively with professional practice to update downtime forms and policies to be in alignment with the content in the EMR
• Assist in creating communication and education materials outlining new features.
• Assist in rounding and engaging stakeholders on the unit to share new features for upgrade
• Conduct surveys for feedback on new features; analyze and trend the data captured to help guide further EMR development/enhancements
• Gather requirements and end user feedback, analyze and trend the data captured to help guide further EMR development/enhancements

• Work collaboratively with cybersecurity and professional practice to update processes and procedures to be in alignment with cybersecurity guidelines and best practices to ensure the security and integrity of EMR systems.


• Support of other project, departmental, or organizational activities

 

What must you have?
• Currently enrolled at a Canadian MHI – Master of Health Informatics program

What else do you bring?
• Strong computer science background.
• Basic knowledge of workstation/mobile/server technologies (Windows 7/10, OSx, Android, apple IOS, Linux, Unix).
• Have strong time management, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and support multiple projects and prioritize conflicting priorities.
• Ability to identify issues, risks and concerns and escalate/resolve as appropriate.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• High degree of initiative and ability to meet multiple principal accountabilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Ability to think creatively with a focus on results and outcomes.
• Proven organizational and time management skills.
• Demonstrated strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to learn and master new technology quickly and improve personal performance through continual self-study.
• Flexibility with respect with work hours; may be required to work after-hours and at all sites of Mackenzie Health.
• Proven attendance record.
• Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
