Job Description

Coordinator - Volunteer and Community Resources

 

 

The Volunteer Resources Coordinator is responsible for all stages of the volunteer management cycle including recruitment, screening, selection, onboarding, training, recognition, development, and evaluation. Volunteers play an integral role across our multi-site organization in delivering a world-class patient experience.  As the site-specific program lead, the Coordinator provides a wide range of responsibilities to ensure a model of shared accountability for the patient experience and further solidify Mackenzie Health as a workplace of distinction for volunteers. In collaboration with the Volunteer Resources Assistant, the Coordinator ensures an exceptional volunteer experience through the creation of meaningful positions, learning opportunities, and recognition initiatives for our volunteers.

Reporting to the Director, Learning & Volunteer Resources, the Coordinator is responsible for the volunteer experience at their respective hospital site (Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital or Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital) from the point of recruitment through onboarding and training to everyday supervision.

 

What must you have?

  • Completion of a relevant university/college program or equivalent working experience and education
  • Minimum of two years experience leading a large volunteer program, preferrably in a healthcare setting.

What else do you bring?

  • Effective leadership in the delivery of quality volunteer programs including professionally executing all facets of the volunteer management cycle: recruitment interviewing & screening/selection, orientation & training, performance management & supervision, evaluation, recognition & retention, and project management.
  • Builds positive relationships with volunteers, staff, community groups and a variety of partners and stakeholders to effectively meet both departmental and hospital objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability in interpersonal, communication, flexibility, diplomacy, coaching, conflict resolution and effective leadership and team building skills.
  • Provides timely and effective communication (written, oral, etc.) to volunteers and other stakeholders.
  • Adaptable and flexible, with a focus on continuous quality improvement, best practice and developing volunteer programs to meet the changing needs of the hospital.
  • Strong customer service skills with an ability to effectively manage multiple and competing priorities.
  • Experience with VSys One and VSys Live or similar databases and scheduling systems to ensure accurate volunteer files, schedules, and documentation.
  • Effectively uses and embraces technologies to support and enhance department functioning to meet goals and objectives.
  • Advanced computer skills including knowledge of the MS Office Suite and Microsoft Teams.
  • Collaboration with program areas and colleagues to ensure successful volunteer engagement with a focus on supporting a positive patient/visitor experience.
  • Educates staff around secondary school co-op and volunteer programs and the effective utilization and supervision of co-op students and volunteers.
  • Able to work effectively independently and as a member of a team in a busy and dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative, high degree of accuracy and ability to handle a complexity of tasks simultaneously.

Preferably, your profile also includes:

  • Certification in Volunteer Management an asset
  • Epic Trainer credentials an asset.
  • Experience with event planning.
