Job Description

Project Manager - Clinical Operations

Temporary Full-Time position (approximately 15 months)

 

The Project Manager, Clinical Operations is an integral member of the Clinical Operations department providing project management of initiatives focused on achieving Mackenzie Health’s Strategic Plan.  Reporting to the Director, Clinical Operations Management and working closely with an Associate Vice President the Project Manager, Clinical Operations will be responsible for end to end project management, managing multiple complex and fast pace initiatives at any given time, communicating effectively with the project team, project sponsors and executive sponsors, utilizing project management tools appropriate to all phases of a project, facilitating team involvement and engagement in all aspects of project planning, and performing cross functional and other duties consistent with the job classification as required.

 

Contribute to safe, quality care by

  • Provides project management expertise and support to accountable leaders in the planning, development, coordination, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of projects to support execution of the Medicine Program’s strategic plan and clinical operating plan.
  • Working collaboratively to support and enable the accountable Project Lead(s) and the project team members, act as a project manager for projects through the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and close phases of each project. In collaboration with the Project Lead(s):

o Develops the initiation documentation and project charter
o Develops the project plan and monitors progress against the plan
o Identifies risks and develops risk management plans
o Communicates and presents projects
o Conducts project evaluations
o Provides status reports to key stakeholders as required
o Develops capital and operating budget requirements for projects
o In collaboration with others, participates in the development of business cases and proposals, impact analyses, reports and recommendations

 

  • Provides change management expertise and leadership to project teams.
  • Facilitates the implementation of tools and templates for project planning, execution and monitoring.
  • Helps define metrics that allow the program to measure and track outcomes to ensure we are meeting the strategic goals.
  • Working with Medical and Operational Leadership of the program, front-line staff, identifies cross program or service impacts as well as outside consultants that inform or influence the project.
  • Provides strong leadership, coaching and mentoring of Lean process improvement practices or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Acts as a role model for improvement by expert facilitation and coaching of process improvement teams with a focus on process improvement including Lean Thinking.
  • Assists team with identifying and evaluating root causes for performance shortfalls and gaps and work with project leads to make recommendations for improved outcomes.
  • Performs other responsibilities consistent with the job classification, as required.

 

What must you have?

  • Bachelors’ Degree required.

  • Excellent project management, change management, facilitation, coaching, and conflict resolution and skills.
  • Experience in change initiatives and project management within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Working knowledge of, and experience with, Lean principles and tools.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Data collection and analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a diverse collaborative team.

  • Proven attendance record.

Preferably, your profile also includes:

 

  • Master’s degree in Business, Health Administration, or a health profession strongly preferred.
  • Project Management Professional designation preferred.
  • Lean Certification preferred.
  • 5 years’ experience in acute health care setting; clinical experience preferred.
