The foundation seeks a Business Analyst to support its financial management and overall business performance. The role involves a range of professional and detailed accounting activities, such as account analysis, reconciliation, budget preparation, variance analysis, and creation, distribution and filing of finance-related reports. The successful candidate will be well-versed in accounting theory and principles and possess advanced skills in Excel, Raisers’ Edge, and QuickBooks Advanced Online.

 

The incumbent will work closely with staff across all Foundation departments to achieve the organization’s goals through their assigned responsibilities. It is essential to work collaboratively with others to ensure success.

 

Contribute to the Foundation by:
• Performs regular analyses on a range of GL accounts.
• Analyzes and balances information and transactions to verify accuracy, reasonability, and completeness against industry standards, established by-law, policies, and procedures.
• Identifies discrepancies and investigates to obtain explanations, missing information, or corrections and takes appropriate actions to ensure corrections are completed when applicable.
• Review various subsystem reports and/or queries to identify issues and investigate errors and inconsistencies.
• Notifies the CFO of unresolved discrepancies and provides recommendations for resolution.
• Prepares appropriate journal entries with backup, as required.
• Works collaboratively with CFO, management, and assigned budget managers to create business cases, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
• Creates, prepares, analyzes, and reports on financial drivers.
• Assists the CFO in the preparation of annual statements and returns.
• Prepares and files HST claims.
• Provides support to external auditors as required.
• Provides support in preparation for the annual audit, budget, reporting and forecasting.
• Keeps up to date with hospital foundation trends and current accounting technologies.
• Completes special projects and duties as assigned.

 

What must you have?
• Completed undergraduate degree in business administration or recognized equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of related experience in an accounting environment with responsibility for a range of accounting activities, including reconciliations, analysis, and report preparation.

• Must have excellent hands-on experience working with Microsoft Office, Excel, Raisers’ Edge, and QuickBooks Advanced Online.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferably your profile also includes:
• Experience working in a Hospital Foundation is preferred but not mandatory.

 

This position is full-time and permanent, with a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
